Hindu Moon and Festival Calendar

Calendar

Gregorian 2008  Kali yuga 5109, Kollam 1183

The Hindu new year starting spring (April) 2008 to spring 2009 is called Sarvadhaarin.

The previous Hindu new year starting spring 2007 to spring 2008 was Sarvajit.

Some months have the tithi overlapping over 2 solar days. Therefore the new moon Amaavasya or a chaturti (like Naga Chaturti) may be given by different panchangams on different successive days depending on the time celebration is calculated by that community. Both are correct and you may choose based on your family tradition or convenience.

The moon phases and details in the calendar are correlated between the traditional panchangam and NASA's projected moon phases. More on Moon Phases and Hindu astronomy
